Teacher's SPL Support Services

UNRIVALLED EXPERTISE FOR YOUR SPL

Welcome to Teacher's SPL, please see our range of support service options below.

This is for one parent taking SPL and includes:

  • Review of your school's shared parental leave policy.

  • A bespoke spreadsheet of your leave detailing weekly pay estimations and SPL blocks to review and amend.

  • Drafting of your SPL forms (government or school-specific) and advice on submission.

  • Ongoing support if you have any SPL issues with your employer.

OPTION A

URGENT OPTION A

This Urgent Service is for people who require a rapid turn around, either due to a deadline or for your own personal reasons.

Please note that if your submission deadline is less than 1 week away, you must purchase an urgent turnaround option.

The next deadline is for people returning for the Summer holidays—the deadline is 24/05/26 for the majority of English and Welsh schools.

This deadline relates to when you will start SPL, not when your maternity leave starts - you do not have to apply for SPL 8 weeks before maternity leave starts.

Our Urgent packages guarantee a plan within a working day of payment, prioritised email replies and drafting of forms. If you are able to answer any questions promptly, we aim to finalise your forms within 48 hours (excluding weekends).

This is for both parents taking SPL and includes:

  • Review of both your and your partner's employer shared parental leave policies.

  • A bespoke spreadsheet of both of your leave detailing weekly pay estimations and SPL blocks to review and amend.

  • Drafting of both parents SPL forms (government or employer-specific) and advice on submission.

  • Ongoing support if you have any SPL issues with your employer.

Support With Self-Completed Forms

If you've drafted your Shared Parental Leave plan and forms yourself, we'll review them for accuracy against your policy and term dates.

We'll include minor corrections, but if major re-drafting is needed, we'll advise upgrading to Package A for full assistance.

OPTION D

TEACHER'S SPL GIFT CARDS

Organising a collection for a colleague? A Teacher’s SPL gift card is the only gift that actually puts thousands of pounds back into their pocket.

Redeemable on any of our services, this is the perfect gift for any expectant teacher!

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Once you've paid for your chosen support package, we will email you with a link to our Google Form where you'll provide your maternity information. We will also request your school's term dates, and SPL policy (if available).
Please do not send these documents until you have paid for a package and have received an email from us requesting them.

When we've received the information we need, you'll be allocated to a member of the team who will send you a draft plan. We can make any changes you like to the plan and then when you're happy with it, you can let us know when you're ready for the paperwork to be drafted. Once this is done, we'll email it to you along with guidance on how to submit it to school.

Since launching our support services, we have assisted over 15,000 families across the UK.

On average, our clients have benefited from an additional seven weeks of full pay, typically equating to over £5,800 (based on M6 scale) more than statutory entitlement.

We pride ourselves on a 100% success rate for eligible applicants and offer a full refund if we are unable to assist you.

TURNAROUND TIMES

Once you've purchased a package, we aim to respond within 24 hours.

Most plans are completed within two weeks of purchase, often sooner. However, as our team is a mix of working teachers and staff with flexible hours, there may be occasional delays during busy periods.

For urgent applications, please ensure you purchase our Urgent Option A or A+ and state "URGENT" in your email subject line when submitting documents. We'll be in touch with a draft of your plan within one working day, then once you've confirmed you're happy with the plan, we will draft the paperwork.

Important: The 8-week notice period for submitting SPL forms is required 8 weeks before you intend to start SPL, not 8 weeks before your maternity/adoption leave begins.

Unsure whether SPL will work for you?
Have a look through our extensive FAQs to address any doubts or worries before you apply.

Update for Teachers working in SCOTLAND:

It is with regret, we are not currently offering our services to Teachers working in Scotland (07/02/26 update)

This was not an easy decision to make, but due to a lack of consistenty in application between local authorities, a failure of many to apply the terms clearly set out in the SNCT handbook, and no real clarity on why they often choose to pay staff differently during school closure periods - we simply cannot offer you reliable advice. We have tried to speak to unions and the SNCT but with no success. We urge you to take this matter up with your unions - as compared to England, Wales and Northern Ireland we don't believe Scottish teachers are always getting a fair deal.
